Dental Crowns (Ceramic / Porcelain / Same Day CEREC)

What are Dental Crowns?

Dental emergencies can be frustrating, leaving you with severe discomfort and pain. In other instances, a restoration might have broken or fallen out and needs to be replaced. We offer immediate emergency care to all patients in Tyler, TX, both new and existing. Our approach ensures that you're receiving the treatment that you need in a comfortable and convenient manner.

Why might a Dental Crown be needed?

There are several reasons for why you might need a new dental crown. Dental crowns are incredibly common, and they are made to look like a real, natural tooth. Some of the reasons you might need a crown include:

  • A tooth has become severely decayed
  • A tooth has broken or cracked
  • A tooth was recently root canaled
  • A tooth has a large filling in it that is compromising the integrity of your smile

Who is a candidate for a Dental Crown?

To determine if a dental crown is needed, we'll examine your teeth and look for older restorations that may need to be replaced. Crowns are ideal for patients of all ages, and they can be placed on virtually any tooth within the mouth. If you have an older crown that needs to be replaced, we can do this easily in our office. New crowns can be expected to last for many years before replacement is needed.

What happens during the Dental Crown procedure?

The dental crown procedure will begin with anesthetic that is used to numb one area of your mouth. We then file down the existing tooth to make room for the crown. This prevents the crown from looking or feeling bulky. We take impressions and use these highly detailed molds to make a new porcelain or ceramic crown. You'll have the crown placed at a second appointment. For our convenient CEREC same-day crowns, we'll take digital impressions and make the permanent crown for you while you wait in the office. The crown is placed and secured, preventing the need for a second visit.
